2004 Bond Board Update

·        A & E Consultants

 

A.     Weekly design team meetings continue for the Bell, Ramey and R/O Relief Elementary Schools.  The design teams are meeting with the Campus Design Leadership Teams at each campus to go over library furniture design and layout, casework classroom storage, marker board and tack board locations and various other design details that are unique to each campus.

 

B.     TSC and TISD’s Facility Department are continuing to meet with district director level personnel to help establish district-wide standards for the prototype designs.

 

C.     Representatives from TISD’s Facilities, TISD Maintenance and TSC met with the MEP consultant to review design issues for vertical buying requirements for roof top mechanical equipment, electrical switch gear and EMCS(energy management control systems) for all seven schools.

 

D.     Representatives from TISD Facilities, TISD Maintenance and TSC met with several carpet manufacturers to determine the best value in carpet products for the Bond Program.  The product performance specification will be developed for vertical buying of carpet for all seven schools.

 

E.      Representatives from TISD Facilities, TISD Maintenance, TISD Food Services and TSC met with the Food Service Consultant in order to prepare bid documents for vertical buying of food service equipment for all seven schools.

 

F.      These weekly campus design committee meetings are expected to continue through early May.

 

G.     The Barham/Leinback design team, TISD facilities and TSC have reviewed the preliminary cost estimates for the Bell and Ramey designs.

 

H.     Harris/Eubanks architects, TISD facilities and TSC have reviewed the preliminary cost estimates for the Rice/Owens relief campus design.

a.       Conceptual Cost Estimates

                                                                                                   i.      The CM has submitted preliminary cost estimates based on the preliminary design for Bell and Ramey Campuses.

 

                                                                                                 ii.      The CM has submitted a preliminary cost estimate based on the preliminary design for the Rice/Owens Relief Campus.

 

                                                                                                iii.      The CM is preparing revised estimated based on 50% Design Development drawings completion.

 

B.                 Bidding/Construction Services

 

a.       In order to meet the civil site package construction schedule at Bell ES, the following construction schedule is for the temporary relocation of the gymnasium;

·        Technology

 

a.       Representatives from TISD Security, TISD Technology, TISD Facilities, TSC and Stravis Technologies met with several vendors to review different access control and intrusion control systems for evaluation.

 

b.      TSC is coordinating technology design documents with the MEP consultants and Architects.

 

c.       The technology consultant is working on the design documents that will be included in the final construction documents. 

 

 

·        Real Estate

 

a.       Ramey & Douglas Elementary Schools

1.      The Boundary Surveys and the Geotechnical Reports are complete.  This data has been passed on to the civil engineer for their use.

2.      The Boundary Surveys has been provided to TISD for their use with the City of Tyler in their ongoing property negotiations.

 

b.      Rice/Owens Relief Campus Site

1.      Boundary Survey and the Geotechnical Report are complete.  The topographic survey is complete.

2.      TISD and the Developer have signed a contract for the Cumberland Gap site.
