QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree preferred

  2. Three years successful teaching experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher Pay 187 days Wage/hour status: Exempt


JOB GOAL: To coordinate and monitor the training for and implementation of the Literacy Collaborative® project for teachers to meet students' needs.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Communicate with appropriate personnel and serve as a specialist to support K-2 in literacy development.

2.       

Work with the district facilitator and administrators to plan and initiate activities related to implementing Literacy Collaborative® at the campus level.

3.       

Work with school literacy team to guide the and monitor the implementation of the Literacy Collaborative® school reform model.

4.       

Teach initial course for teacher yearly as needed according to standard designed by Literacy Collaborative®.

5.       

Provide ongoing professional development sessions for teachers who have completed the initial course.

6.       

Observe teachers as they teach children using the Literacy Collaborative® language and literacy framework.

7.

Provide regular in-class coaching sessions for teachers participating in their initial year of training and beyond year two training.

8.

Teach children in the same classroom daily for the school year using the Literacy Collaborative®  language and literacy framework for a minimum of two hours.

9.

Oversee, organize, and take responsibility for gathering, analyzing, and reporting data for program evaluation and professional development.

10.

Provide training for their teachers on the administration, scoring, and submission of required assessments as defined by the Literacy Collaborative® .

11.   

Compile, maintain, file, and present all reports, records, and other documents.

12.   

Organize, lead, and assess books and materials in the literacy library and classroom.

13.   

Assist teachers and principals in preparing annual campus Literacy Collaborative®  Reports.

14.   

Complete yearly school report with support of leadership team and principal.

15.   

Attend six days of ongoing professional development each year.

16.   

Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

17.   

Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

18.   

Participate in opportunities for interaction with other Literacy Collaborative® facilitators, district facilitators, administrators, and teachers.

19.   

Keep current on professional written materials.

20. 

Conduct parent/community awareness program.

21.

Assist school leadership team in completing the National Literacy Collaborative® School Affirmation document.

22.

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

23.

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position as assigned.

24.

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

Equipment used: Computer, copier, fax, and related office equipment

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide functions.
Physical Demands: Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
