673A - District Curriculum and Instructional Coach


Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree
  2. Valid Teaching certificate with at least 5 years successful teaching experience and demonstrated experience in curriculum.
  3. Texas Principal or Mid-management certification.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goals:

  1. To coordinate with the Director specific instructional goals to increase teacher and student performance.
  2. To increase student performance and to develop, implement, and coordinate K-12 curriculum. 
  3. To assist the Director in districtwide curriculum infrastructure and support to impact student results. 

Reports to:  Director of Curriculum


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Administrative/Professional Paygrade 5: 219 days; Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


                                                   MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Assists with district curriculum revision teams in developing, maintaining, and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis in identified areas of expertise.

Plans, implements, and evaluates TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.

Applies research and data to improve the content, sequence, alignment, and outcomes of the teaching / learning process.

  1.  

Assists in securing input and data to evaluate curriculum and instructional program effectiveness.

  1.  

Assists in the development and implementation of budgets related to curriculum and instruction.

  1.  

Meets with grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to clarify the curriculum sequence and develop lesson goals, objectives, and teaching strategies for the upcoming weeks.

Meets with grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to review assessment data in specific subject area and plan interventions to improve instruction.

  1.  

Provides demonstration lessons and meet with teachers to discuss practices and compare planned instruction with actual performed instruction.

  1.  

Complies, maintains, files, and presents reports, records, and other documents required.

  1.  

Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; offers constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching / learning process.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrate teamwork in daily activities.

    12. Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
    13. Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
    14. Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
    15. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
    16. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
    17. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.
   

Equipment used:  Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, projection system, Medicast hardware

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, maintain emotional control under stress; ability to coordinate and facilitate districtwide curriculum functions.

Physical Demands:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers; transporting curriculum materials for staff development; and frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
