665A - Coordinator of Special Services
(Regular Education Homebound/Attendance Auditing/Special Education)


 

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. Master’s Degree and Administrative Certification preferred
  2. Five years teaching experience
  3. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Thorough knowledge of the Family and Educational Codes as related to attendance
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of Trustees may find appropriate            

 

REPORTS TO:          Director of Special Education

 

SUPERVISES:  General education homebound teachers


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Administrative/Professional Pay grade 5, 192 days Wage/hour status:  Exempt


                                                                              

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 


 

1.       

Coordinate all campus attendance audits and homebound services and assists in reporting for daily attendance and Medicaid reimbursements

2.       

Assist in developing attendance audit policies and procedures

3.       

Facilitate staff development pertaining to attendance audits

4.       

Arrange conferences for homebound students

5.       

Assist with homebound policies and procedures

6.       

Proposes and facilitates new programs to ensure compliance for homebound services, Medicaid reimbursements, and attendance audits

7.       

Assist with the coordination of attendance audits and homebound communication within the district

8.       

Keeps informed about new state and federal guidelines and policies concerning the juvenile justice system and education as it relates to attendance audits

9.       

Coordinates homebound services with campus 504 services and assists special education with organization and preparation for compliance

10.     

Assist in the supervision and evaluation general education homebound teachers

11.     

Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board of Trustees

12.     

Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required

13.     

Is prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently

14.     

Maintains confidentiality

15.     

Complies with all district and local campus routines and regulations

16.     

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities

17.     

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators

18.     

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance

19.     

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned

20.     

Annually establishes and meets performance goals

  Automobile, computer, copier, fax and related office equipment; pager, cellular phone

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Mental Demands: Reading ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; counsel with parents and students when needed

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.  Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel, sometimes in unsafe areas and/or under unsafe situations.
