658B Assistant Principal of Attendance, High School

Primary Responsibilities
Supervise the clearing of single period absences
Ensure that teachers have confirmed questionable absences and tardies
Supervise referrals to attendance officer of student single period and excessive absences.
Supervise attendance for each period.
Follow-up with teachers reflected on Attendance Not Taken reports each day.
Ensure daily records of entry and drop out students are maintained.
Oversee data concerning excused and unexcused absences for students with five or more absences
Supervise contact with parents to check why a student is absent and why parents have not called.
Ensure accurate tracking of tardies.
Perform discipline for attendance-related offenses, as necessary. Inform appropriate assistant principal of actions.
Ensure that appropriate assistant principal is notified of excessive tardies.
Develop and implement interventions for excessive absences and truancy.
Ensure that early release students leave campus or reschedule into appropriate courses.
Maintain data on campus attendance.

Computer, copier, fax, and related office equipment
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate campus support functions.
Physical Demands: Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Occasional districtwide travel.
