        Job Description


 

REPORTS TO: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree

  2. Certified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser

  3. Shall hold a valid administrator’s, midmanagement, principal, or assistant principal certificate; At least three years successful experience as a classroom teacher and shall have demonstrated his/her ability as an instructional leader.

  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

Discipline Secretary; custodians; paraprofessionals; clerical personnel; Assigned Faculty
 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 5, 214 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

 

  1. Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees.

  2. Supervises operations in the absence of the regular principal.

  3. Assists in planning daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules and teacher assignments.

  4. Assists with developing budgets based upon documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs.

  5. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods. 

  6. Ensures that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.

  7. Conducts conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.

  8. Coordinates and supervises student activities as assigned by the principal.

  9. Maintains accurate individual student disciplinary records.

  10. Observes employee performance, records observations, and conducts evaluation conferences. Serves as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal system. 

  11. Confers with staff members regarding their professional growth and leadership skills; works jointly with them to develop and accomplish improvement goals.

  12. Identifies, provides, and/or encourages participation in available inservice training options to address the goals identified through the growth planning process.

  13. Assists the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff

  14. Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

  15. Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

  16. Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

  17. Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.       

  18. Projects a positive image to the community.

  19. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

  20. Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

  21. Oversees any changes of information on students into the district's student management system.

  22. Oversees the initiation of discipline forms after excessive tardiness according to Board policies and procedures.

    • Parking Permits

    • Discipline policy, procedures and reporting for the
      campus

    • Classroom removal procedures

    • Transfer approval / revocations

    • Student and staff IDs

    • Security (including Crimestoppers, Drills, and
      Emergency Crisis Plans)

    • Special Education, ARDs and 504s

    • UIL Eligibility and File Maintenance

    • Student Handbook

    • Fundraising

    • Student organizations / clubs

    • Graduation

    • Prom

    • Other necessary programs

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Computer, copier, fax, and related office equipment

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate campus support functions. 

Physical Demands:  Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.  May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions.  Work with frequent interruptions.  Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.  Occasional districtwide travel.
