654 - FACILITATOR OF DISCIPLINE SERVICES

       


REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Education

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Three years teaching or Juvenile Justice or Counseling or Social Service experience, or any combination of above.
3. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
4. Thorough knowledge of the Juvenile Justice system and education.
5 Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 4, 204 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

1.       

Coordinate all campus discipline services.

2.       

Assist in developing the student code of conduct.

3.       

Advise and direct actions of campus administrators with court and other community agencies related to student discipline.

4.       

Provide staff development pertaining to discipline.

5.       

Conduct student assemblies/presentations regarding discipline.

6.       

Assist with DAEP conferences and arrange conferences for detained/incarcerated students.

7.       

Assist with grant writing.

8.       

Proposes and coordinates new programs to ensure compliance.

9.       

Prepare for court cases and attend all court proceedings involving district students.

10.     

Convey court deliberations and required legal notifications to campus personnel.

11.     

Coordinate all discipline communication within the district.

12.     

Keeps informed about new state and federal guidelines and policies concerning the juvenile justice system and education.

13.     

Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees.

14.     

Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents  required.

15.     

Is prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.    

16.     

Maintains confidentiality.                           

17.     

Complies with all district and local campus routines and regulations. 

18.     

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

19.     

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

20.     

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

21.     

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

22.

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

Automobile, Computer, copier, fax, and related office equipment; pager, cellular phone

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; counsel with parents and students when needed.
Physical Demands: Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel, sometimes in unsafe areas and/or under unsafe situations.
