645B - COORDINATOR OF K-12 MATHEMATICS


    

Reports To: Director of Curriculum and Instruction

 

Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree or higher
  2. Principal certification and/or Mid-Management preferred
  3. Valid Texas teaching certificate with at least 5 years successful teaching experience; administrative or curriculum experience preferred.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

 

Supervises:  Professional and paraprofessional staff as assigned.

 


Terms of Employment: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 5, 226 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


 

Job Goals:

  1. To assist in providing a district-wide curriculum infrastructure and support to impact student results in mathematics.
  2. To provide leadership and management of curriculum related instructional programs and services of the district.
  3. To develop programs, instructional tools, products, and direct the training of campus and district staff to support a comprehensive curriculum to increase student performance.

 


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Works with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis of the K-12 mathematics program..

2.       

Plans, implements, and evaluates TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.

3.       

Applies research and data to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching/learning process.

4.       

Communicates the district curriculum, instructional policies, accomplishments, goals, and new directions to parents and the community and solicits their input on these instructional issues.

5.       

Works to insure curricular alignment in all grade levels and ensures coordination with state and federal requirements and changes.

6.       

Assists in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs; ensures the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.

7.       

Secures input and data to evaluate curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.

8.       

Identifies consultants, specialists, and other resources to assist principals, teachers, and curriculum staff in attaining objectives.

9.       

Assists with recruitment, selection, and training of teachers in the content area of mathematics

10.     

Provides, develops, and delivers effective staff development activities that incorporate the mission of the district program evaluation outcomes, using data analysis, and the needs of teachers.

11.     

Conferences regularly with assigned staff to discuss performance, jointly develops improvement objectives to identify professional growth opportunities.

12.     

Demonstrates skill in “coaching” staff, provides technical assistance to principals, teachers, instructional specialists, and staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourages improved over-all performance.

13.     

Demonstrate responsible fiscal control over assigned program budgets.

14.     

Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; offers constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching/learning process.

15.     

Complies, maintains, files, and presents all reports, records, and other documents required.

16.     

Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

17.     

Assist with the implementation of the PDAS; may serve as second appraiser.

18.     

Provides technical assistance top principals, teachers, and staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourages improved over all performance.

19.     

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

20.     

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

21.     

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance; evaluates the job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.

22.   

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

23.     

Annually establishe4s and meets performance goals.

 

 

Equipment used: Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, projection systems

 

Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinated districtwide curriculum functions; interpret policy, procedures, and data.

 

Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal. Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
