Job Description


REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree; CPR & First Aide Certification, teacher certification preferred.
2. Certified to maintain the pool according to safety standards and ability to perform required tests, maintain daily records of tests.
3. Ability to follow instructions provided by contracted chemical company regarding pool maintenance, type and amount of chemical required.
4. Work cooperatively with Facility Services concerning problems pertinent to maintenance of building and pool.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.
 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 1, 192 days Wage and Hour Status: Exempt


Major Responsibilities

  1.  

Maintains the Aquatic Center building and swimming pool in a safe, clean, and comfortable condition.

  1.  

Keeps and maintains daily records of chlorine and Ph tests (performed twice daily).

  1.  

Schedules and records names of persons and organizations and the house for which the pool is used.

  1.  

Collects fees as instructed and sees that the pool rules are observed by everyone who enters the Aquatic Center or the property.

  1.  

Keeps the parking lots and lawn areas neat and clean and free of litter.

  1.  

Surveys safety devices and equipment on a daily basis and observes all safety rules and requirements pertaining to hazardous chemicals.

Maintains all pool equipment in good operating condition and secures all tools and chemicals in the storeroom when not in use.

  1.  

Uses a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of he students on the swim team.

  1.  

Manages and supervises swimming activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

  1.  

Works with other members of the school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives.

  1.  

Establishes performance criteria for competition and evaluates the swimmers’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.

  1.  

Keeps informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules applicable to the swim team.

  1.  

Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.

  1.  

Works with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.

  1.  

Accompany and supervise student athletes during swimming competition on out-of-town trips.

  1.  

Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.

  1.  

Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

  1.  

Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of the athletic participation.

  1.  

Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

  1.  

Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

  1.  

Use information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

  1.  

Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

  1.  

Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the swim program.

  1.  

Perform other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

  1.  

Annually establish and meet performance goals.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Athletic equipment used by the swim team.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress.  Continual walking and standing; moderate lifting and carrying; stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.  Work outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather) and inside.  Possible exposure to sun and heat. Frequent  districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
