627D - District ESL / Bilingual Instructional Coordinator

Qualifications:

1.Master’s degree
2.Valid Teaching certificate and ESL certificate with at least 5 years successful teaching experience and demonstrated experience in teaching ESL.
3.Texas principal or Mid-Management certification preferred.
4.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goals:

1.To assist the Director specific instructional goals to increase teacher and student performance.
2.To increase student performance and assist in the coordination of the district K-12 curriculum.
3.To assist the Director in district wide curriculum infrastructure and support to impact student results.

Reports to: Director of Bilingual/ESL


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay grade 3, 214 days; Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Assists with district curriculum revision teams in developing, maintaining, and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis in identified areas of expertise.

Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.

  1.  

Assists with the implementation of research and data to improve the content, sequence, alignment, and outcomes of the teaching / learning process for second language learners/bilingual.

Assists in securing input and data to evaluate curriculum and instructional program effectiveness for ESL / Bilingual program.

  1.  

Meets with grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to clarify the curriculum sequence and develop lesson goals, objectives, and teaching strategies for ESL/Bilingual program.

Meets with grade level / subject area teachers at the campus level to review assessment data in specific subject area and plan interventions to improve instruction.

  1.  

Provides demonstration lessons on ESL / Bilingual and meets with teachers to discuss practices and compare planned instruction with actual performed instruction.

Provides staff development on best practices for ESL/Bilingual to teachers in the district.

  1.  

Compiles, maintains, audits and assists in the maintenance and reporting of ESL/Bilingual records.

Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; offers constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching / learning process.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and other sin the conduct of district business and demonstrate teamwork in daily activities.

   12. Serves as a consultant to LPAC and ARD Committees on campuses.
   13.

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

   14.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

   15.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

   16.

Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

17.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

   18.

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

 

Equipment used: computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, projection system, Medicast hardware

Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, maintain emotional control under stress; ability to coordinate and facilitate districtwide curriculum functions.

Physical Demands:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers; transporting curriculum materials for staff development; and frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
