623AA - CAMPUS INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST


 

REPORTS TO: Director/Coordinators of Curriculum and Instruction and Campus Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree.
  2. Principal/Mid-Management certification, preferred
  3. Five years successful teaching experience.
  4. Successful leadership in facilitating groups, delivering staff development, and coaching staff.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

JOB GOAL:

1. To provide the leadership and expertise needed to make instruction effective and positive for each student.

2. To assist teacher in identifying and applying various research-based instructional strategies in the classroom.

3. To assist in analyzing student assessment data and developing plans for improvement.

4. To act as liaison between district administration and campus needs in organizing, providing, and delivering staff development and teacher training.

 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Paygrade 3, 204 days Wage/hour status: Exempt


 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.

Serves as a liaison between district level curriculum department and campus administration and staff in the delivery of the district-wide plan for instruction and staff development.

2.

Demonstrate effective coaching and guidance skills and inspire both the respect and the trust of principals, teachers, and other colleagues.

3.       

Works with teachers through grade levels and/or content areas to implement curriculum and assessment instruments and interventions based upon student data.

4.       

Facilitates analysis of student performance at assigned campus.

5.       

Promote the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of TEKS.

6.       

Performs classroom visitations and demonstration lessons to model strategies and monitors curriculum implementation through effective coaching methods.

7.       

Conducts staff development for teachers in the content areas and instructional strategies.

8.       

Informs teachers of major curriculum trends and developments and leads study groups of current research.

9.

Facilitates the writing and construction of performance criteria and assessment materials.

10.

Closely monitors benchmark data and analyzes student performance and teaching methods in the content areas.

11.

Meets regularly with district level staff and then confers with campus administration on curriculum, instructional focus, and staff development plans.

12.

Orients new teachers in the content areas and instructional strategies.

13.   

Facilitates the preparation of curriculum alignment materials, assessment materials, inventories and budget requests for staff development and materials.

14.   

Facilitates coordination with Response to Intervention (RTI) program and assists in preparation, grouping, tutorials, and after school programs.

15.   

Assists with campus planning and scheduling in coordination with the district plan.

16.   

Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

17.   

Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

18.   

Keep current on professional written materials, current research on effective instruction, and state/federal expectations.

19.   

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

20.   

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position as assigned.

21.   

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide functions.
Physical Demands: Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
