REPORTS TO: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Social Service Certification
3. Social Service Work experience
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

SUPERVISES: N.A.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 1, 187 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


Major Responsibilities

 

1.      

Effectively plan the social services and parent involvement program; provide assistance to develop education and personal plans. 

2.      

Utilize the referral process to help students and others use special programs and services including counseling, emergency assistance, or crisis intervention. Assist with the follow-up of the service needs; provide information to families on available community services.

3.      

Make parent contact/follow-up for children whose school attendance is irregular; track students who withdrawn.                                             

4.      

Monitor the progress of selected students participating in the extended day/extended year programs. 

5.      

Supervise the referral of students to outside agencies.     

6.      

Assist in the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities; develop and conduct  parenting training and support groups, as request.

7.      

Make home visits to gather information relating to students. 

8.      

Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine cause of student problems and effect solutions.

9.      

Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students according to district procedures. 

10.    

Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees in pursuing the mission of the school district.

11.    

Keeps informed about new state and federal guidelines and laws.

12.    

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

13.    

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

14.    

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

15.    

Maintains confidentiality of information.

16.    

Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of social work services at Ramey and make changes based on the findings.

17.    

Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

18.    

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

19.    

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer, copier, fax, AS400 and related payroll and office equipment. 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate several requests simultaneously.

Physical Demands:  Moderate standing, sitting, stooping, bending and lifting; repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
