609B PARENT TEACHER COMMUNITY LIAISON

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Social Service Work experience

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 1, 187 days

1.

Utilize the referral process to help students and others use special programs and services including counseling, emergency assistance, or crisis intervention. Assist with the follow-up of the service needs; provide information to families on available community services. |

Make parent contact/follow-up for children whose school attendance is irregular; tracking students who withdraw. |
|
3.
|
Supervise the referral of students to outside agencies. |
|
4.
|
Assist in the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities. |
|
5.
|
Recruit, coordinate and track volunteers for Andy Woods Elementary. |
|
6.
|
Assist in education and care of students as needed. |
|
7.
|
Maintain relationships with community provider organizations and remain informed of services available to students and parents. May involve membership on local social service boards or committees with approval of supervisor. |
|

|
Make home visits to gather information relating to students. |
|
9. |
Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine cause of student problems and effective solutions. |
|
10.
|
Fulfill duties as assigned, such as attendance, guidance lessons, and student supplies, and clothing. |
|
11.
|
Comply with policies established be federal law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees in pursuing the mission of the school district. |

Keep informed about new state and federal guidelines and laws. |
|
13. |
Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities. |
|
14. |
Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code. |

Use information provided through the district appraisal process to improve performance. |
|
16. |
Maintain confidentiality of information. |
|
17. |
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. |

Perform other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned. |

Annually establishes and meets performance goals. |
Equipment Used:
Computer, copier, fax, related office equipment, and personal vehicle.
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and
written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate several requests
simultaneously.
Physical Demands: Moderate standing, sitting, stooping, bending and lifting;
repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. Occasional prolonged and
irregular hours.
