603B Campus Facilitator of Career and Technology Education


 

Reports to:    Director of Assessment & Auxiliary Service
 

Qualifications:

  1. Education/Certification:

  2. Master’s degree with emphasis in education or career and technology

  3. Working knowledge of federal and state code governing career and technology education

  4. Ability to manage budget and personnel

  5. Ability to coordinate district function

  6. Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

  7. Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

  8. Three years successful career and technology teaching experience

  9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher Salary Schedule; 187 days. Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


 


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.

Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and that findings are used to make career and technology program more effective.

2.

Facilitate planning and application of technologies in career and technology education program.

3.

Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.

4.

Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support subordinates in accomplishing educational goals.

5.

Obtain and evaluate findings (including student achievement data) to gauge program effectiveness.

6.

Provide career exploration and awareness resources and testing materials to all campuses.

7.

Serve on state and local committees including Tech-Prep and School-to-Work committees.

8.

Assists with establishing student admission criteria for each career and technology program.

9.

Identify and define local job opportunities for students.

10.

Assists with career and technology education facilities and coordination of needed repairs and maintenance.

11.

Controls the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse.

12.

Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Attends and works with occupational advisory committees in the development and implementation of specific career and technology education programs.

13.

Assists in district follow-up studies and evaluations of programs and graduates.

14.

Prepares progress reports.

15.

Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and parts as required, working under established budget and procedures.

16.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences on vital issues with parents, students, and teachers.

17.

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom with many potential hazards.

18.

Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

19.

Recommend sound policies directed to improve program.

20.

Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in area of career and technology education.

21.

Compile, maintain, file, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

22.

Assist in compiling budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.    

23.

Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and       recommend the disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary.

24.

Recommend approval of purchase orders for department to accounting department.

25.

Gives input to prepare, review, and revise job descriptions for career and technology department.

26.

Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure operation of career and technology education department.

27.

Participate in recruitment, selection, and training of personnel. Make sound recommendations about personnel placement, transfer, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

28.

Assist students, parents, and teachers with career, college, and scholarship information.

29.

Recruit employers and business to provide learning experience to students and provide assistance as necessary.

30.

Articulate the district’s mission and goals in career and technology education to community and solicit its support in realizing mission.

31.

Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

32.

Maintains contacts with the business community to keep informed of new innovations and job requirements that must be reflected in the curriculum in order to develop marketable skills as required by prospective employers.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computers, printers, scanners, FAX, copiers, typewriters, TVs, VCRs, presentation systems, laser disk players, video, digital, and still cameras and other technology/media equipment.
