602A - FACILITATOR OF DISTRICT BEHAVIOR TRAINING & 504

 


 

REPORTS TO:         Director of Special Education

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   

 

1. Bachelor's degree

2. Experience working with students with behavior disorders.

3. Texas Teaching Certificate preferred.

4. Two years experience in program coordination.

5. Experience developing behavior intervention strategies for home, community, and school.

6. Experience in leading large group discussions and training.

7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

 

SUPERVISES: Monitor 504 campus coordinators

 

JOB GOAL:

In order to ensure that the Tyler Independent School District is meeting the needs and requirements of students and employees, the Coordinator of Section 504 and the District's Behavior Training Texas Behavior Support Initiative will supervise and coordinate all functions and matters pertaining to such.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Paygrade 4 - 197 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


1.       

Serves as the contact person in matters concerning 504 issues and Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) training.

2.       

Inform supervisor of the effects of current and impending legislation.

3.       

Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the 504 program and implement changes based on the findings.

4.       

Represent the district in 504 Committee meetings.

5.       

Serve as the liaison between school and other agencies.

6.       

Consult with other administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other relevant individuals regarding the 504 program.

7.       

Communicate effectively with the teachers and administrators throughout the district.

8.       

Communicate effectively with the special education department.

9.       

Is prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

10.     

Implements policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, rule, and local board policy.

11.     

Compile, maintain, file, and present all reports, records, and other documents related to the benchmark program.

12.     

Prepares documents, summaries, and implementation plans and reports as requested.

13.     

Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.

14.     

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

15.     

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

16.     

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

Equipment Used: Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, and other technological equipment.

 

Working Conditions: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district wide training and functions.
