596A - Coordinator of Staff Development and Instructional Resources


Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree

  2. Five years of successful teaching experiences.

  3. Administrative experience or experience as a teacher trainer preferred

  4. Specialized training and skills in using technology and management software.

  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

Terms of Employment:  Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 5, 205 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

  1.  

Coordinate the district media/film library and maintain the online booking systems for district media. Convert the online booking system from Gateway software to Destiny software in the 04-05 school year to provide consistent access to all resources in the district.

Maintain, expand, and update the equipment and services provided in the TISD Instructional Resources Center for classroom teachers.
  1.  

Provide training on the use of this facility to create classroom instructional materials for professional staff, paraprofessional staff, parent volunteers, student teachers, and high school students in parenting classes.

Coordinate the teacher allotment program to maximize resources available to teachers (Each teacher has an allotment of $150 that they can use on materials, etc in the IRC.)

Administer the budget for the instructional resources center and plan purchases needed for teacher materials.
  1.  

Continue working with the IRC Advisory Committee to plan future direction and services for the center.
  1.  

Coordinate and facilitate district staff development activities for all departments and divisions.
  1.  

Facilitate collaborative planning among all departments, divisions, and campuses for quality professional development that is tailored to the needs of TISD teachers, staff, and students.
  1.  

Establish and serve as the chair of the TISD Staff Development Advisory Committee to identify areas of priority for staff development and plan the Pay for Knowledge offerings.
  1.  

Design a staff development program for district clerical-technical and manual/trades personnel to assist them in meeting district training requirements.
  1.  

Recruit in-district and out of district speakers for Pay for Knowledge workshops and district staff development in priority areas. Maintain documentation of speaker contracts and expense statements.
  1.  

Compile the district Pay for Knowledge Catalog of offerings (fall, spring, summer) and disseminate the catalog to all staff. An example of the summer offerings is attached.

Administer the staff development budget.
  1.  

Oversee and implement the Electronic Registrant On-line (ERO) electronic staff development management system. Expand the system for the 2004-2005 school year to include on-line evaluation of training sessions.
  1.  

Train campus principals on how to use ERO to check campus employee progress towards district staff development requirements or training listed in growth plans. Arrange for training for campus staff in using ERO as requested.
  1.  

Facilitate the payment of extra duty pay to employees who participate or serve as trainers in the Pay for Knowledge training program ($7 per hour for participants, $35 per hour for trainers).

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide functions.

Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal. Frequent districtwide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
