586 - Producer/ Manager of TV Operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. Minimum of 3 years related experience in television production, journalism, or related field.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, journalism, communications, film or related field.
  3. Demonstrated experience in video editing, scriptwriting, and satellite transmission.
  4. Such alternatives as to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate

 

REPORTS TO:          Director of Communications and Public Relations

 

SUPERVISES:        Production Manager and Production Assistant


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 1, 226 days Wage/hour Status:  Exempt


                                                 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1.  

Oversees all programming and operations of the Tyler ISD Television studio.

  1.  

Responsible for identifying educational programming from vendors and other educational institutions.

  1.  

Develops and produces original programming.

  1.  

Oversees bulletin board operation.

  1.  

Oversees satellite transmissions and program downloads.

  1.  

Oversees scriptwriting.

  1.  

Develops and implements marketing plan to promote cable access channel and educational programs.

  1.  

Presents a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.

  1.  

Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and colleagues.

  1.  

Deals sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  1.  

Ensures quality video tape, audio setup, and mixing in the studio and on location.

  1.  

Maintains appropriate setup lighting in the studio and on location.

  1.  

Maintains production scheduling calendar for the television station.

  1.  

Responsible for all aspects of editing including but not limited to assemble editing, insert editing, storyboard editing, and non-linear editing.

  1.  

Creates computer graphic designs when requested.                             

  1.  

Assists in directing the multi-camera live television productions.

  1.  

Communicates with administrative personnel, including Director of Communications, regarding all workings of the TV studio operations.

  1.  

Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees in pursuing the mission of the school district.

  1.  

Keeps informed about new state and federal guidelines and laws.

  1.  

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

  1.  

Willing to pursue certification to teach Career and Technology courses in television production.

22.   

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

23.   

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

24.   

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

25.   

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, copier, fax and related television production equipment, including master control and satellite equipment.
 

Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress and broadcast deadlines; work cooperatively with others.
 

Physical Demands: Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting.
