QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Texas Teaching Certificate preferred
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

JOB GOAL:

  1. To bridge the instructional relationship between home and school.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher Salary Schedule, 187 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Prepare lessons that instruct parents in strategies to assist student learning.

2.       

Prepare the subject matter in a format that can be easily understood.

3.       

Counsel with parents and assist with planning and implementing meetings.

4.       

Schedule assignments of special activities for the classrooms by finding volunteers for the   classroom.

5.       

Assist in coordinating activities for parents.

6.       

Teach the parents strategies that will help their students improve their study habits.

7.       

Employ the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.

8.       

Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

9.       

Effectively plans the Title I Parent-Teacher Liaison program; provides assistance to develop education and personal plans.

10.     

Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, Title I,  and the local Board of Trustees in pursuing the mission of the school district.

11.     

Keeps informed about new state and federal guidelines and policies.

12.     

Complies with all district and campus routines and regulations.

13.     

Attends and participates in designated meetings.

14.     

Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required.

15.     

Assists with the confidentiality of all required reports.

16.     

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

17.     

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

18.     

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

19.     

Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with parents, campus personnel, and the Title I Staff.

20.     

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.

21.     

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

22.     

Annually establishes and meets performance goals.

Computer, copier, fax, and related office equipment 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands:  Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress;

Physical Demands:  Moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel.
