790 - DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED; business school, college credit or three years data processing, or related experience preferred.

  2. Demonstrates high level of computer literacy and has a high technical aptitude

  3. Ability to grow professionally

  4. Organizational and communication skills

  5. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

REPORTS TO:       DIRECTOR OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SERVICES              

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. Provide district-wide support in the area of data processing.

  2. Assist in facilitating the efficient operation of the electronic repair center.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will);  Clerical/Technical P/G 5 Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily. Wage hour status: nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Order Apple, Dell and Gateway warranty parts online. Do labor reimbursements online. Make sure bad parts are returned. Keep up with returned parts tracking numbers.

Receive parts from shippers, Airborne, Fed Ex, UPS and give to the technician that requested them.

Provide support to all computer users to TISD staff.

Log and monitor incoming electronic repair requests.

  1.  

Order stock parts and keep up with stock inventory and charge out parts when used on work orders. Make sure exchange parts are shipped back to vendor.

Assist in taking the monthly inventory.
  1.  

Communicate with all schools about trouble shooting and computer problems.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and assigned.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks.

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

   15. Enter work orders for computers and for AV equipment that is brought to shop. Close work orders and make sure parts charged on them.
   16. Run Kronos and sick leave reports. Verify and enter time on Excel worksheet.
   17. Check mileage reports for technicians and do direct pays. Turn into accounting.
   18. Pickup whatever parts/supplies needed at local vendors when requested. Take electronic equipment to local vendors and pickup - close these and enter charges.
   19. Deliver accounting/payroll paperwork to administration building.
   20. Assist in delivery of equipment to campuses when needed.
   21. Answer main number for department.
   22. During summer answer all help desk calls and enter work orders and change passwords and whatever.

EQUIPMENT USED: 

            Uses copier, calculator, computer and printer, and fax.

            Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally); ability to operate computer; ability to maintain control under stress. 

            Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers.
