787 - CASHIER, CENTRAL OFFICE
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED;
Thirty sem. hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent business school training; or successful demonstration of seven areas of competency, including Keyboarding, filing procedures, office records, management and business writing, or three years general bookkeeping/accounting experience;
Keyboarding and computer proficiency;
Computation, organizational and communication skills
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Accounting
JOB GOALS:
Maintains accurate receipts of all money received by TISD.
Processes and pays utility bills in a timely manner.
Maintains records for general ledger adjustments and budget amendments.
Assists campus and departments with their financial accounts.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 5 Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily; Wage/hour status: nonexempt
Receipt most monies received by TISD from federal, state, and local sources.
Pay utility bills.
File general ledger entries and budget amendments.
Prepare cash deposits and balance to cash receipt books
Serve as backup for other department personnel in areas of accounts payable and computer data entry.
Assists Lead Accountant and the Accountants as needed.
Assists campus personnel with activity fund deposits.
Monitor supplies and prepare purchase order requisitions for accounting department supplies.
Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business; demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.
Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedure for absences.
Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.
Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses computer, typewriter, printer, fax, calculator, and copier.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Frequent lifting of heavy boxes. Works with frequent interruptions.
