772 B - Secretary, Workers Compensation


 

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. Fifteen hours college credit with some business orientation; or equivalent business school background; or three years of general clerical/secretarial experience

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  4. Computational, organizational, and communication skills

  5. Ability to work with constant interruptions and with various district employees.

REPORTS TO:                     DIRECTOR, PURCHASING AND RISK MANAGEMENT

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. To  process worker’s compensation claims


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Paygrade   4 Estimated 226 days;   estimated 8 hours  daily


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Receive telephone calls, respond to telephone inquiries.

  1.  

Type and mail office correspondence

  1.  

Assist in balancing monthly insurance statements.

  1.  

Receive accident reports on job injuries or school vehicle collisions.

  1.  

Process initial Worker's Compensation forms.

  1.  

Maintain follow up with appropriate Texas Workers' Compensation Commission (TWCC) forms.

  1.  

Maintain computer and hard copy files of claims.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and may be assigned.

  1.  

Conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks.

  1.  

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality regarding any matter impacting personnel in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

  1.  

Adheres to the district's safety policies and procedures.

  1.  

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

  1.  

Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

  1.  

Maintains titles for all district vehicles.

  1.  

Maintains current vehicle schedule including description, VIN #'s, department assigned, current status, etc.

  1.  

Process through the Texas Driver License Bureau a review of driving records for all request for drivers, except those for school buses.

  1.  

Maintains a file copy of each report.

   22.

Notifies Principals of approved and unapproved drivers based on point allotment for infractions.

   23. Fixed asset entry.
   24. Chargeback checks.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Uses computer, typewriter, printer, copier, calculator, and telephone. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal; works with constant interruptions.
