764 - DISTRICT TITLE I HOME/SCHOOL LIAISON


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.

  3. Current driver’s license, ability to drive, insurable

  4. Desire and ability to work with children in addition to experience working with students or parents.

REPORTS TO:                     Director

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. To assist school personnel in their efforts to enhance instruction by creating a congenial and cooperative relationship between the school and home.                                                                                                    


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 3   Estimated 185  days;   estimated 8 hours  daily Wage/Hour Status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Serve as a liaison between the home and the school so that efforts to help students are successful.    

  1.  

Works closely with the principal, teachers, and parents to address homes with special needs.  

  1.  

Makes telephone calls to the homes of students with excessive absences if applicable                              

  1.  

Conducts home visitations as needed. 

  1.  

Plans and conducts parenting classes. 

  1.  

Assist campus parent liaisons in their efforts on the campuses.
  1.  

Facilitate outreach library services on parenting skills and educational materials for students.
  1.  

Coordinates parent volunteers in the classrooms.  

  1.  

Is prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and assigned.

  1.  

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt and timely in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

  1.  

Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

    18. If applicable, input, verify, or update PEIMS information as assigned by supervisor.
    19. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
    20. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
    21. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Uses computer, typewriter, printer, copier, FAX, calculator, and telephone. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); in English and Spanish; ability to perform basic arithmetic; maintain emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal; occasionally lifting heavy boxes; works with frequent interruptions.
