760A - SECRETARY, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF INSTRUCTION -
 HIGH SCHOOL


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. Fifteen hours college credit with some business orientation; or equivalent business school background; or three years of general clerical/secretarial experience

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  4. Computational, organizational, and communication  skills

  5. Ability to work with constant interruptions and with various district employees.                           

REPORTS TO:  Assistant Principal of Instruction (Primary); Secondary reporting line to Campus Operations Manager for coordination of work.
 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will);Paygrade3   Estimated 188 days; estimated 8 hours  daily Wage/Hour Status:  Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Communicate and relay information to all other campus personnel at principal's request.

  1.  

Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff.

  1.  

Maintain physical and/or computerized files including inventory of office supplies, mailing lists, visitor logs and office communication as requested.

  1.  

Update handbooks, policy manuals and other documents as assigned.

  1.  

Monitor the work of student aides, when applicable.

  1.  

Type purchase orders upon request.

  1.  

Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for Assistant Principal of Instruction.

  1.  

Provide assistance to the Assistant Principals, as assigned, in the following areas:
*Lesson Plans

*Benchmark Testing

*New Teachers mentoring program

*Encouraging staff participation in in-service training

*Student Teachers

*Advanced Placement Testing
*Partners in Education
*Gifted and Talented
*Making curriculum guides available to teachers.

*Holding regular meetings with the department chairpersons on an individual and group basis in order to 
  facilitate communication and evaluate instruction within the departments.

*Appropriately order supplementary materials used in the implementation of the instruction programs.

*Coordinating and directing the standardized testing program.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT:

*Reporting evaluative information to staff and others.

*Completing accreditation reports for Texas Education Agency (TEA).

*Providing staff development.

STUDENT MANAGEMENT:

*Assists Records/Scheduling Officer in leveling classes as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:   

                Uses computer, typewriter, printer, fax, calculator, and copier. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental  Demands:  Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.  Frequent lifting of heavy boxes.  Works with frequent interruptions.
