760 Discipline Secretary, High School


QUALIFICATIONS:        

    1.      High school diploma or GED.
    2.      Fifteen semester hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent business school background or 3 years of general/secretarial experience.
    3.      Keyboarding and computer proficiency; computation skills.

REPORTS TO:  ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (Primary); Secondary reporting line to Campus Operations Manager for coordination of work. 

JOB GOALS: 

1.      Facilitates the disciplinary process, as well as other areas assigned by Assistant Principal for Discipline.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will);  Clerical/Technical  Paygrade 3 Estimated 188 days; estimated 8 daily


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.      Monitor all students sent for discipline while waiting to see the assistant principal.
2.      In the absence of the Assistant Principal, take statements from students involved in serious infractions.
3.      Type, file, and mail all correspondence related to discipline problems.
4.      Keep files on Infraction Referrals (IR).
5.      Prepare all documentation for Central Review Committee (CRC).
6.      Alphabetize and keep ongoing files for student discipline file.
7.      Gives I.S.S. instructor names of all I.S.S. students {Tyler only}.
8.      Communicates and relays information to all other campus personnel at principal’s request.
9.      Assist in maintaining appraisal files.
10.  Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.
11.  Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
12.  Maintain physical and computerized files including inventory of office supplies, mailing lists, visitor logs, and office communication, as requested.
13.  Monitor the work of student aides, when applicable.
14.  Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for Assistant Principal.
15.  Receive D-Hall/I.S.S. rolls daily and follow up on attendance issues.
16.  Update student demographic information in the computer system.
17.  Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
18.  Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.
19.  Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
20.  Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
21.  Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
22.  Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
23.  Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses computer, typewriter, printer, copies, fax machine, and calculator.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:
Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
