759A Transportation Services Clerk, Bilingual


 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED

  2. Fifteen semester hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent business school background or 3 years of general clerical/secretarial experience.

  3. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed.

  4. Keyboarding and computer proficiency.

  5. Computation, organizational, and communication skills.

  6. Fluent in English and Spanish

  7. Negative mandatory OTETA test.

REPORTS TO:                                    SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION 

JOB GOALS:

  1. To assist in maintaining an efficient office management system.

  2. To assist with department records, both manual and computerized.

  3. To assist supervisor and department secretary in accomplishing departmental goals.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will);  Clerical/ Technical Paygrade 3;   Estimated 228 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/hour status:  Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Serve the district's bilingual community with regard to transportation services as necessary.
  1.  

Assist department by translating material and communications into Spanish.
  1.  

Interpret for non-bilingual department employees and non-English speaking parents/community, representing the Transportation Department in a positive manner.
  1.  

Assist with office correspondence.
  1.  

Assist with delivering and distributing departmental mail.
  1.  

Assist with office supply inventory.
  1.  

Assist with answering department telephones promptly with a friendly, helpful attitude.
  1.  

Assist with maintenance of transportation department personnel records.
  1.  

Assist with department payroll records and preparation of appropriate reports.
  1.  

Assist in maintaining driver certification, licensing and physical examination records and coordinating appropriate procurement efforts.
  1.  

Assist with preparation of trip-fuel and service invoices.
  1.  

Assist in maintaining bus rider assignment records, files.
  1.  

Assist with inquiries related to bus routes, limits, assignments, and attendance boundaries.
  1.  

Assist in maintenance of map files.
  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and may be assigned.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks.
  1.  

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel matters in the conduct of district business.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Uses copier, typewriter, printer, copier, calculator, and telephone; two-way radio equipment. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; ability to maintain effective control over groups of students. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal; works with frequent interruptions.  Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (hot) and vehicle fumes.
