753 RECEPTIONIST, Switchboard Operator, Central Office


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.

  2. Two years experience as Educ. Secy I; or 15 hours college credit with some business orientation; or equivalent business school background; or three years of general clerical/secretarial experience.

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency.

  4. Computational, organizational, and communication skills, preferred.

  5. Ability to work with constant interruptions and with various district employees.                           

REPORTS TO:                                    Director of Human Resources

JOB GOALS:     

  1. To  operate the switchboard console.

  2. To maintain the master calendar of meetings.

  3. To maintain a postive image for the district.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will);Paygrade 3  Estimated   226   days;   estimated 8 hours  daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Accept, transfer, and direct all incoming phone calls at the administration building.

  1.  

Accept some calls transferred from direct numbers.

  1.  

Greet the public in a positive, professional manner.

  1.  

Maintain a professional atmosphere in reception area.

  1.  

Direct visitors to the administration building to proper destination, i.e., administrator, purchasing, food service, meeting room, review hearing, etc.

  1.  

Disburse applications for substitute applicants, as required.

  1.  

Notify proper administrator of campus and building emergencies.

  1.  

Maintain a master calendar of meetings and meeting room availability at the administration building.

  1.  

Direct custodian in proper set of meeting rooms as designated on meeting room request forms.

  1.  

Relay custodial and maintenance requests for administration building, including temperature, moving boxes, shredding, etc.

  1.  

Assist graphics department staple and collate materials.

  1.  

Assist with mass mailings, i.e., payroll, administrative announcements, etc.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

  1.  

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks.

  1.  

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

  1.  

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

  1.  

Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: 

                Uses PBX Centracom 12/30E 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Works with frequent interruptions; continuous sitting.
