744A - Computer Lab Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED           
  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed
  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency
  4. Desire and ability to work with children
  5. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.
  6. Have experience related to working with students or parents

REPORTS TO:                 Building Principal

JOB GOALS:

  1. To maintain campus computer lab.
  2. To reinforce mathematics, reading, science skills presented by the teachers for student.
  3. To teacher computer skills presented in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 185 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

1.         

Reinforce skills in vocabulary comprehension, mathematical calculations, and reasoning.

2.         

Create new ways to re-teach skills taught by teacher.

3.         

Research computer programs;  word cards, games, etc. as applicable.

4.         

Customize computer programs to fit needs of each class.

5.         

Monitor students while using computers.

6.         

Reinforce reading, science and math skills.

7.. 

Match computer activities contained in lesson plans prepared by the teacher.

8. 

Maintain data on student progress.

9. 

Prepare lesson plans for computer instruction.

10. 

Supervises students during meals, before and after school.

11. 

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

12. 

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

13. 

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

14. 

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

15. 

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

16. 

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

17. 

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

18. 

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

19. 

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

20. 

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

If applicable, input, verify, or update PEIMS information as assigned by supervisor.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: 

                                                Use computer, printer, and audiovisual equipment.
