744 TITLE I COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED           

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  4. Desire and ability to work with children

  5. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.

  6. Have experience related to working with students or parents

REPORTS TO:                 Building Principal

JOB GOALS:

  1. To maintain campus computer lab.

  2. To reinforce mathematics and reading skills presented by the teachers for student.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 185 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Reinforce skills in vocabulary comprehension, mathematical calculations, and reasoning.

  1.  

Create new ways to re-teach skills taught by teacher.

  1.  

Research computer programs; make charts, study sheets, word cards, games, etc.

  1.  

Customize computer programs to fit needs of each class.

  1.  

Monitor students while using computers.

  1.  

Print bi-weekly reports to monitor each student’s progress; communicate with teacher.

  1.  

Reinforce reading and math skills.

  1.  

Match computer activities contained in lesson plans prepared by the teacher.

Conference with teachers from each grade level weekly to discuss progress and individual student needs.

  1.  

Administer required tests at the beginning and end of each school year to measure progress on each student.

  1.  

Print reports of achievement for each student.

  1.  

Maintain reports on files for each student.

  1.  

Maintain student activity sheets.

  1.  

Prepare lesson plans to correlate with teachers plans daily.

  1.  

Monitor students daily during breakfast and lunch.

  1.  

Maintain discipline; proper table etiquette; clean area.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification progcedures for absences.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Supervises students before and after school duties.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED: 

                Uses copier, typewriter, and audiovisual equipment. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional
control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
