QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED           

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency         

  4. Have clerical/secretarial experience or background

  5. Have experience related to working with students or parents

REPORTS TO:                 Director, Plyler Alternative Campus

JOB GOALS:

  1. To facilitate the efficient operation of the middle school program.

  2. To facilitate communication between the staff, campuses, students, and parents.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 185 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

1.

Types records and other correspondence for alternative school as needed.

2.

Answers telephone and routes calls to proper persons.

3.

Operates copy machine and types letters, forms, and warehouse orders as needed.

4.

Maintains computerized student records and computerized files for the alternative school.                                        

5.

Records grades of students. 

6.

Keeps daily attendance records; records student entries and withdrawals.

7.

Orders forms for Special Education as needed.

8.

Organizes Special Education forms for easy access.

9.

Sends forms to campuses when requested.

10.

Maintains payroll for clerical and professional staff at the alternative school.

11.

Maintains budget information, processes purchase order requests, etc.

12.

Orders office supplies and copy machine supplies.

13.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

14.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

15.

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

16.

Has regular attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.

17.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

18.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

19.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

20.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

21.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

22.

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Uses calculator, copier, typewriter, computer, fax machine. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting; work with frequent interruptions; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.
