737 - Receptionist/Switchboard, Elementary and Middle School


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED   

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Ability to operate office equipment and laminator, keyboarding and computer proficiency.

  4. Have receptionist/switchboard experience or background

  5. Have experience related to working with students or parents

REPORTS TO:                    Building Principal 

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. To professionally greet visitors to campus and operate the switchboard

  2. To reproduce instructional materials.

  3. To assist with securing substitutes.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 205 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status:  Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.                                  

  1.  

Greet and direct visitors to the school.

  1.  

Assist public, staff, and students as needed. 

  1.  

Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes.

  1.  

Prepare mailing and labels using personal computer and typewriter.

  1.  

Sort, distribute, or deliver mail, messages, and other documents.

  1.  

Take all intercom calls.

  1.  

Assist with filling unexpected or unfilled teacher and paraprofessional vacancies.

  1.  

Assist in orienting the substitutes to the campus procedures.

  1.  

Assist with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc.

  1.  

Provide clerical assistance as needed.

  1.  

Duplicate, collate, and bind instructional materials for teachers.

  1.  

Assist staff members with outgoing FAX and receive and route incoming FAX messages.

  1.  

Requisition and maintain accurate inventory of workroom supplies.

  1.  

Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of workroom equipment.

    16.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

    17.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

    18.

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

EQUIPMENT USED:

                Uses multi-line phone system, computer, typewriter, copier.

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. 

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; continuous sitting.
