733C  Staff Development & Instructional Resource Center Secretary


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED           

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Typing and computer proficiency         

  4. Have clerical/secretarial experience or background

  5. Have experience related to working with students, teachers, parents, and the public.

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Curriculum and Instruction & Staff Development

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. To promptly and efficiently process all incoming video and book orders; distribute them to campuses in a timely manner.

  2. To assist in facilitating use of IRC to district personnel.

  3. To assist in staff development set up and coordination


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 4 Estimated 226  days;   estimated  8 hours daily;  Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Enter new instructional materials into the Destiny system.
  1. Order replacements and new copies as requested.
  1. Check in professional journals and keep circulation current.
  1. Write overdue notices to teachers, check for overdue books, and keep books in order on shelves.
  1. Manages computerized Destiny software system.
  1. Occasionally repair broken tapes for media area to send to schools.
  1. Make copies of cassette tapes and videos for schools and administrative staff.
  1. Processes all campus media orders/book orders.
  1. Maintains online computerized media catalog.
  1. Prepares videos to be placed on shelf, i.e. bar codes, numbers, etc.
  1. Assist teachers and librarians with Poster Printer Plus, Button Maker, Bumper Sticker Machine, Spiral Binder, etc.
  1. Assist teachers with Desktop Publishing and Internet searches.
  1. Make new die samples for librarians.
  1. Use Ellison dies for creating workshop materials.
  1. Keep die machine pads replaced when worn; keep dies in order when adding new ones.
  1. Maintain Teacher Allotment accounts for teachers.
  1. Provide reports for Teacher Allotment expenditures.
  1. Copy materials, collate materials, enlarge and reduce materials for teachers.
  1. Laminate as required and replace film when needed.
  1. Answer phones, type, search for books and videos on computer.
  1. Assist teachers and librarians locate resource materials; assist teachers using teacher allotment.
  1. Shelve and pull videos, Big Books, and books.
  1. Check books and magazines in and out of library to campuses.
  1. Review new videos for media; check new videos for possible problems.
  1. Serves as greeter for teachers and parents entering IRC.
  1. Provides instructional/classroom display and ideas for teachers.
  1. Orders all supplies for department.
  1. Maintains budget for departments.
  1. Assists librarians as needed with budget expenditures.
  1. Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.
  1. Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
  1. Coordinates set-up, food, and supplies for staff development sessions.
  1. Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
  1. Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
  1. Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
  1. Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  1. Adheres to the district's safety policies and procedures.
  1. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  1. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.


 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Uses calculator, copier, typewriter, computer, fax machine, Ellison Die, laminator, Accu-Cut machine, poster printer and A-V equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.; ability to perform basic arithmetic. 

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting. work with frequent interruptions; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.
