730B Police Dispatcher
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma.
Minimum of 15 hours of college in related field of study to include business management and computer science; 3 years of general clerical/secretarial experience; or equivalent business school background
Valid Texas driver's license
At least one year experience in working with staff, parents, and students.
Keyboarding and computer proficiency
Computer, organizational, and communication skills.
REPORTS TO: Police Chief
JOB GOAL(S):
Coordinate assignments and calls of police officers and vehicles for calls to schools, and coordinate these calls with Tyler Police and Fire as needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 4 Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/hour status: Nonexempt
EQUIPMENT USED:
Two-way radio equipment, computer and software, phone system, fax machines, 10 key calculator
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors: Ability to cope with high stress incidents as they occur and calm and assure the caller that the situation is being handled. Ability to handle irate parents and/or out-of-control students. Ability to handle multiple phone lines; Ability to monitor and respond to police radio and transportation department radios.
