QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED  

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency         

  4. Have clerical/secretarial experience or background

  5. Have experience related to working with students or parents

  6.  

REPORTS TO:                     Director, Food Service

 

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. Maintains documents current pertaining to free lunch and reduced meal programs.

  2. Keeps all school inventories, profit and loss statements, and other accounting reports current.

  3. Assists in general office procedures.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 226 days;   estimated  8 hours dailyWage/hour status:  Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Maintains a working knowledge of federal programs pertaining to the nation’s school lunch
program and national school breakfast program as it pertains to free and reduced meal application
process.

  1.  

Receive and process free and reduced meal applications.

  1.  

Calculate annual salaries of applicants and record on applications.         

  1.  

Enter information on computer pertaining to applications for free and reduced meals.     

  1.  

Print letters to parents, school rosters, lunch tickets, and cafeteria notification cards regarding free
and reduced meals.

  1.  

Maintain support documents and applications in accordance with federal guidelines.

  1.  

Meet with parents, cafeteria managers, and other school personnel to answer questions regarding
the free and reduced meal programs.

  1.  

Assist parents in filling out free and reduced meal applications, as needed.

  1.  

Assists the director of food service with verification of meal applications according to federal guidelines.

  1.  

Close out year and prepare computer for new school year.

  1.  

Responsible for printing and calculating food service inventories for all campuses.

  1.  

Responsible for data entry regarding food service profit and loss statements kept by all schools.

  1.  

Answers telephone and directs calls, as needed.                                    

  1.  

Notify food service secretary when supplies are needed.                    

  1.  

Assists food service secretary as needed.              

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such
responsibilities as may be assigned.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the
conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and
efficiently.

  1.  

Has regular attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

                Uses calculator, copier, typewriter, computer, fax machine. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

                Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability  to
                        perform basic arithmetic; maintain emotional control under stress.
 

                Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending,
                        and lifting; work with frequent interruptions; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of
                        computer.
