720 Special Education Resource Assistant/Elementary Content Mastery Assistant


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED;

  2. Experience related to working with student or parents.  Experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day care centers, or similar experience.

  3. Ability to quickly read materials and provide instructional support.

  4. Desire and ability to work with and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.

  5. Keyboarding and computer proficiency.

REPORTS TO:              Building Principal and Supervising Teacher       

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. Help provide for physical and instructional needs of students.

  2. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including behavior management.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical;   Paygrade 2;Estimated 185 days; estimated 4, 6, or 8 hours daily;  
Wage/hour: nonexempt                                                                        


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

1.

Assist in developing materials that relate to modified lessons for elementary students.

2.

Assist students with modified lessons

3.

Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom..

4.

Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

5.

Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

6.

Assist students according to their needs.                          

7.

Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including bathroom needs and personal hygiene.

8.

Help manage behavior of students.

9.

Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.  This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

10.

Assist in the cafeteria.  Provide students with utensils, monitor behavior, clean as necessary.

11.

Assist students with buses, including monitoring students before and after school.

12.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

13.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business; demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

14.

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

15.

Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedure for absences.

16.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

17.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

18.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

19.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

20.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

21.

Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses computer, typewriter, printer, fax, and copier.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to spell correctly; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; possible lifting of students. Possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
