719 IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION ASSISTANT (ISS)


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school diploma or GED           

  2. Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Desire and ability to work with children

  4. Have experience related to working with students or parents

  5. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  6. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or

    pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.

 

REPORTS TO:              Campus Principal     

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. Supervise the students assigned to the OCD class for disciplinary reasons.

  2. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 2 Estimated 185 days;   estimated  8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status:  Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

 1.

Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.

 2.

Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.

 3.

Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.

 4.

Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.

 5.

Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.

 6.

Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).

 7.

Record student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer.

 8.

Supervise students assigned to OCD during lunch and bathroom breaks.

 9.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

 10.

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business; demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

 11.

Is  prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

 12.

Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedure for absences.

 13.

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

 14.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

 15.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and  regulations.

 16.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

 17.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

 18.

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

 19. If applicable, input, verify, or update PEIMS information as assigned by supervisor.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses computer and copier.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Works with frequent interruptions. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
