710 Head Start Material Instructional Aide


QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. Be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate;

  2. Have experience related to working with students or parents;

  3. Keyboarding and computer proficiency, with general office experience, preferred

  4. Desire and ability to work with and effectively communicate with staff, students, and parents.

  5. Valid Texas drivers license; insurable.

  6. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or

    pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.

     

REPORTS TO:            Head Start Director         

JOB GOALS:       

  1. To maintain student information by entering, updating, and monitoring student data

  2. To assist with TEA evaluation process


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade1   Estimated 228  days;   estimated 8 hrs daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Order, inventory, label, organize, store, retrieve and deliver equipment, materials and supplies for the office and classroom.

  1.  

Maintain a pictorial inventory of classroom/office materials and playground equipment; maintain tracking system of materials ordered, stored, and delivered.

  1.  

Label all equipment for the office and classroom; maintain an accurate record of discarded materials and equipment.

  1.  

Meet and participate in weekly staff meetings; assist with the annual updating and revising of the Fiscal Operations and Administrative Plans.

  1.  

Retrieve and deliver weekly time cards to and from all Head Start sites.

  1.  

Assist in the scheduling of services to maintain the upkeep of the vans.

  1.  

Prepare the Perry Outreach Library for meetings, interviews, workshops, seminars, training, fund raising activities, etc.

  1.  

Assist with the preparation of materials for the classroom, as needed.

  1.  

Assist in transporting students, parents, and staff in Head Start approved vans, as needed.

  1.  

Assist with the Enrollment/Recruitment process, as needed; assist with the preparation of class rolls, distribution order, and deliveries.

  1.  

Maintains reports, files and requests for each center and teacher.

  1.  

Inventory and check in and out consumable supplies and equipment.

  1.  

Assist with preparing purchase orders for the accounting and purchasing departments

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

  1.  

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleague and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

  1.  

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

  1.  

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.

Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

  1.  

Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED: Uses calculator, copier, typewriter, computer, fax machine 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:  reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.  Works with frequent interruptions; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers; frequent district travel.
