709 Head Start Case Manager


QUALIFICATIONS:     

  1. High school diploma or GED           

  2. Oral and written Spanish fluency, preferred 

  3. Current driver’s license, ability to drive, insurable

  4. Desire and ability to work with children

  5. Have experience related to working with students or parents

  6. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  7. To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or

    pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.

 

REPORTS TO:      Director of Head Start           

JOB GOALS:                 

  1. To assist in the successful operation of the Head Start office.

  2. To achieve accurate Head Start records and reports.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Noncontractual (At-will); Clerical/Technical Paygrade 3 Estimated 205 days; estimated  8 hours daily Wage/hour status:  nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

  1.  

Attend, participate, and facilitate in monthly center meetings and Title I parenting meetings and activities.

  1.  

Collaborate home visits with the classroom teachers in completing the family partnership profile to all children/families assigned.

     3.

Collaborate, track and document student frequent tardies, absentees, and attendance to maintain the required average daily attendance and replace students as they are withdrawn from classes.

  1.  

Assist with the identifications and referrals for Sudan’s exhibiting inappropriate behavior to resolve or alleviate difficulties that adversely affect a child’s adjustment in the classroom.

  1.  

Assist with facilitating, collaborating and providing parent/student training opportunities.                        

  1.  

Schedule, facilitate, obtain signed releases in a timely manner and transport or arrange for bus transportation for students assigned to medical, dental, lab, immunizations, etc. for all students assigned, within (45), (90) days

  1.  

Attend and participate in weekly case staffing with staff, coordinators, and the Head Start Director.

  1.  

Communicate (verbal/written) and document medical/dental/immunizations results to the Head Start nurse, teachers and parents. 

  1.  

Obtain and maintain vision/hearing certification and provide services to children assigned, as requested.

  1.  

Facilitate with teachers and the Head Start nurse for providing height/weight assessments for all students assigned; provide services as requested.

  1.  

Graph and submit heights/weights to the nurse for all assigned students.                      

  1.  

Facilitate/schedule/report the results of all lab work to the Head Start nurse prior to filing in the student’s enrollment folder; collaborate and coordinate the referral and follow-up services with the nurse.

  1.  

Participate in scheduling and preparing activities of  the Health Advisory Committee Meetings.

  1.  

Facilitate with and provide education, health, and nutrition training and information to parents/families assigned.          

  1.  

Assist with stocking and re-stocking the first aid kits of the campuses and classes assigned.               

  1.  

Facilitate with the teacher and the behavior trainer in mental health needs of children and their families.

  1.  

Monitor and  update the necessary emergency information and family data for each child assigned.

  1.  

Enter and update student/family data on the child plus computer software program for all students assigned for accurate program tracking and program information reporting.

  1.  

Identify and document family goals, strengths, and requested services on an on-going basis.

  1.  

Provide looking at life, exploring parenting, casual learning training opportunities for the parents of the children assigned; provide the training during center meetings, policy council meetings, or at other times that are requested/convenient for your assigned parents.  Assist and facilitate in the parent orientation.

  1.  

Assist in accessing, referring and following-up for community services and resources for parents; involve and assist parents in becoming self-sufficient.

  1.  

Update the Community Resource director as necessary.

  1.  

Collaborate and communicate with the family and community partnerships/mental health coordinator concerning the goals and requests of parents.

  1.  

Participate in on-going outreach, recruitment and enrollment activities on and off site which systematically insures the enrollment of income eligible children; maintain a waiting list of completed applications to enroll when students withdraw.

  1.  

Participate and provide documented two-way communication of home visits, conferences, telephone calls, and referrals; solicit and refer parents to be involved with the policy council and the Head start classrooms/office/program activities. 

  1.  

Assist in providing parent/volunteer training to parents/families assigned; collaborate with the computer/library assistant to provide resources for the parents.

  1.  

Participate and provide the necessary assessments involving your assigned students, as requested.

  1.  

Communicate the needs of children with the early childhood coordinator and the classroom teachers, campus principal, and other related campus personnel.

  1.  

Assist, refer, participate in the annual program self-assessment and revision of all component plans.

  1.  

Assist in attending ARD and 504 meetings of assigned students, as requested.

  1.  

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

  1.  

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.

  1.  

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

  1.  

Meets attendance standards and complies with the Head Start notification procedures for absences.

  1.  

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Periodically attends workshops, seminars, conferences, and participate in opportunities for professional growth.

EQUIPMENT USED: Uses calculator, copier, typewriter, computer, fax machine. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental `Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) ; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:  Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting. work with frequent interruptions; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer;  frequent district-wide travel.
