922 EMCS TECHNICIAN


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. High School Diploma

  2. Energy/Management Certification, Required at the end of three years

  3. Knowledge of energy management program development and implementation

  4. Ability to analyze and interpret data

  5. Ability to implement policy, procedures, and data

  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

  7. Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all district facilities

  8. Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases

  9. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  10. Basic understanding of air conditioning and other energy systems

  11. Three years experience in energy management or closely related field.

REPORTS TO:        SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE

 

JOB GOALS:

  1. Plan, organize, and coordinate the energy management program for the district. Ensure efficient and effective energy management district wide. Implement an energy management program to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff that will result in a reduction in district utility expenditures. 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 8; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours dailyWage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.    

Develop and coordinate district energy management program.

2.    

Plan and conduct energy audit for improvement of energy management procedures, equipment and systems.

3.    

Coordinate the installation, repair, and modification of energy management equipment in district facilities.

4.    

Travel to district facilities regularly to inspect monitoring devices and utility usage.

5.    

Establish and implement a setback program for all district facilitates.

6.    

Utilize computerized EMCS to plot energy usage and temperature changes during extended periods of time.

7.    

Work cooperatively with building and facilities directors to support scheduled use of school facilities for extracurricular activities.

8.    

Communicate energy management guidelines to district staff.

9.    

Make presentations on resource conservation to students, faculty, and civic groups.

10. 

Coordinate energy conservation activities with local, state, and federal conservation groups.

11. 

Maintain utility usage database, including analyzing and interpreting data.

12. 

Maintain physical and computerized files to document activities and information, including wiring and installation diagrams of all energy management systems.

13. 

Communicate, on a regular basis, with campuses and departments regarding energy consumption and conservation.
       14. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
       15. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations in energy management.

Computer, light meters, digital thermostat / humidity sensor, hand tools, etc.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Ability to read, perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide travel, occasional prolonged and irregular hours, work indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspections.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 

Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing and carrying.  Ability to lift 50 pounds weight.  Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; dust; toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, in ditches/excavations, on top of and underneath single story and multi-story buildings, work alone and with other personnel.
