897 Maintenance Foreman


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Five (5) years successful experience in equipment and facility maintenance

  3. Must maintain current Texas Driver License; maintain appropriate           

  4. driving record for insurance purposes

  5. Be able to read and work from scaled drawings

  6. Demonstrates ability to work and get along with people

  7. Good communication skills

  8. Willingness to work occasional overtime

REPORTS TO:        SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE

JOB GOALS:

  1. To help provide a better physical learning environment that is safe and attractive for all students and personnel in the district.

  2. To help supply and keep in good repair the physical teaching aids of the district.

  3. To endeavor to have an efficient and smooth running department


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 7; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. 

Coordinates and participates in the HVAC work of the district's schools and other related facilities.

2. 

Assigns duties to the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, electronics and high school maintenance crews.

3. 

Displays proficiency in managing Gateway work order program.

4. 

Advises subordinates as to solutions to problems and to materials used.

5. 

Assists the Director in managing the overtime budget.

6. 

Makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchases to Director of Maintenance.

7. 

Instructs subordinates as to how to perform their duties correctly.

8. 

Instructs subordinates as to safety procedures and health hazards.

9. 

Gives warnings, both verbal and written, to subordinates when required.

10.     

Complies with directions and instructions from Director and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

11.     

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

12.     

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

13.     

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

14.     

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

15.     

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

16.     

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

17.     

Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Ability to use all manual and powered tools associated with equipment and facility maintenance.

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to understand basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying.  Ability to lift 50 pounds weight.  Works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.  Physical ability to wear respirator.
