896 ROUTING AND SCHEDULING SUPERVISOR


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least 2 years of college and 3 in school transportation experience.

  2. Ability to follow verbal instructions.

  3. Ability to communicate effectively to others.

  4. Current Commercial Driver's License and bus driver certification.

  5. Negative mandatory OTEA test.

  6. Physically fit to pass annual physical and operate school bus.

  7. Certified "Train the Trainer" Certificate.

  8. Proven knowledge of functioning components utilized in Pupil Transportation operations.

  9. Computer Literate.

REPORTS TO:        Director of Transportation

JOB GOALS:

  1. To oversee and help maintain the staff training program

  2. Maintain qualified driving/monitor staff

  3. Assist director in accomplishing department goals


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Non-contractual (At-will); Pay-grade 5 :Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Displays initiative that will lead toward accomplishments of department and district goals.

2.       

Displays and initiates support programs and actions that reflect a positive caring climate for the department.

3.       

Accepts responsibility for ensuring that all route reports, rider records, etc., are turned in and properly filed.

4.       

Maintains appropriate safety standards for staff

5.       

Assists in recruitment of adequate driving, monitoring staff 

6.       

Maintains required training records and student records

7.       

Communicates needs assessments to Director of Transportation

8.       

Instructs and supervises all training for driving, monitoring staff

9.       

      Coordinates monthly safety meeting and annual orientation for staff.

10.   

        Implements necessary routing changes for regular and special needs routes.

11.   

        Perform accident investigation and record follow up.

12.   

Monitor and evaluate employee performance

13.   

Demonstrate a clear-cut sense of direction and expectations for staff performance

14.   

Assists in recruitment, orienting new staff; making sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and when justified, dismissal.

15.   

Complies with district policies, and other laws and regulations

16.   

Assists in scheduling drivers and buses for extra-circular trips

17.   

Acts as a substitute bus driver when required

18.   

Rides and monitors bus routes as needed for “trouble-shooting

19.   

Participates in workshops, conferences, training sessions and other job related development activities

20.   

Disseminates relevant information to subordinates.

21.   

Accepts, and complies with professional standards and ethics.

Demonstrates awareness of school/community needs.
