QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas drivers license
Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in roofing
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations
Ability to work independently
Five years experience as a skilled commercial roofer
REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
JOB GOALS:
Under general supervision, perform warranty insurance inspections, minor alterations, repairs and quality control on new roof installations and outside contractor; major repairs on any and all roofs in the district. Maintain district roofs in clean and water tight condition.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 6; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily; Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1.
Maintain all warranted roofs in a condition that complies with manufacturers’ specifications to insure good warranty status
2.
Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
3.
Perform minor repairs and alterations on any and all roofs in the district
4.
Develop and implement scheduled inspections for all roofs.
5.
Detect needed repairs on roofs, buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures; advise Coordinator of these needs.
6.
Perform quality control inspections an all new roof installations and outside contractor repairs. Assist outside contractors with leak location and detection.
7.
Receive and complete work orders.
8.
Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
9.
Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.
10.
Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean; remove scraps and lumber as needed
11.
Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
12.
Respond to emergency calls as needed.
13.
Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
14.
Operate tools and equipment according to established procedures.
15.
Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
16.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
17.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any condition that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
18.
Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
19.
Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.
20.
Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
21.
Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
22.
Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
23.
Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
24.
Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.
EQUIPMENT USED: Power saw, nail gun, air compressor, other power equipment, measuring devices, and light truck or van.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental demands/Physical Demand/Environmental Factors: Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent district wide travel.
