882A - ELECTRONIC SERVICE CENTER SERVICE MANAGER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Two years College/Trade School and/or Networking Certifications

  3. Five years or more work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing networked computers and peripherals.

  4. Knowledge of computer workstation setup; both stand-alone and networked.

  5. Knowledge of common computer hardware and software applications.

  6. Knowledge of network operating systems and theory of operation.

  7. Ability to diagnose and perform repairs.

  8. Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize.

  9. Ability to communicate effectively.

  10. Demonstrates leadership skills.

REPORTS TO:        DIRECTOR OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES

 

SUPERVISES:        Electronic repair center technicians and interns.

 

JOB GOALS:

  1. Manages the daily activities of the Electronics Repair Center.

  2. Organize work orders and dispatch technicians and interns accordingly. 

  3. Monitor work order load, progress, and completion.

  4. Order replacement parts and maintain an inventory of commonly used parts. 

  5. Provide technical support to technicians and interns.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 7; Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Assign work orders to ESC technicians and interns.

2.       

Monitor work orders for the following: technician work order load; work order progress; work order
completion; conduct quality of service reviews.

3.       

Assign estimated time and completion dates to work.

4.       

Coordinate the loading and delivery of new computers.

5.       

Provide technical support to ESC technicians and interns.

6.       

Answer inquiries by personnel to work order status.

7.       

Keep technicians and interns up-to-date on pars order status.

8.       

Assist new employees on the use of the district network and programs.

9.       

Coordinate the training of new employees.

10.    

Operate tools and equipment to prescribed safety procedures.

11.    

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting,
climbing, carrying, etc.

12.    

Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable
to the supervisor immediately.

13.    

Instruct new employees on any safety issues related to their job.

14.    

Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

15.    

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of
district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

16.    

Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks.

17.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

        18.

Completes other job duties as assigned.


 

EQUIPMENT USED:
Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable testing.  Personal computers and peripherals including modems, printers, etc.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to operate computer; maintain emotional control under stress; mechanical/technical aptitude. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying.  Ability to operate motor vehicle; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and possible chemical fumes.
