882 NETWORK COMPUTER TECHNICIAN


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Two years College/Trade School and/or Networking Certifications

  3. Four  years or more work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing networked computers and peripherals.

  4. Knowledge of computer workstation setup; both stand-alone and networked.

  5. Knowledge of common computer hardware and software applications.

  6. Knowledge of network operating systems and theory of operation.

  7. Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers, modems, and scanners.

  8. Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware.

  9. Ability to diagnose and perform repairs.
     

REPORTS TO:        DIRECTOR OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES

JOB GOALS:

  1. Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. 

  2. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 7; Estimated 226 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.

2.       

Install network cabling and network peripherals

3.       

Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.

4.       

Install and configure software as needed.

5.       

Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communication
circuits and equipment.

6.       

Diagnose and repair equipment including printers, computers, and network devices.

7.       

Provide technical assistance to faculty and staff for use of technology equipment.

8.       

Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

9.       

Operate tools and equipment to prescribed safety procedures.

10.    

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting,
climbing, carrying, etc.

11.    

Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable
to the supervisor immediately.

12.    

Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

13.    

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and other in the
conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

14.    

Is prompt and timely in completing daily task.

15.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

        16. Completes other job duties as assigned.


EQUIPMENT USED:
Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable testing.  Personal computers and peripherals including modems, printers, etc.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent district-wide travel.  Ability to lift heavy objects up to 75 pounds.  Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
