878A –PRINTER/GRAPHIC SPECIALIST

 

REPORTS TO: Coordinator Printshop

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma, GED, Associate Degree in Graphic Arts or Certified Master Craftsman/Printer.
  2. One year printing or graphic arts experience.
  3. Ability to grow professionally.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and graphics software.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate. 

 

SUPERVISES

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Manual Trades Pay Grade 5, 226 days; Estimated 8 hours daily Wage Hour Status: Non-Exempt

 

            MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

  1. Operate equipment with a thorough goal, clear sense of direction and purpose in the daily digital production demands.
  2. Attend to assignments and details accurately and efficiently.
  3. Evaluate and recommend improvement in the purposes, design, and implementation of the systems used in the Graphics Department.
  4. Monitor and proofread district produced documents in digital and printed form and make recommendations for improvement.
  5. Use graphics software to improve the quality of scanned documents from campus and administrative departments.
  6. Set up and operate folders, collators, paper drills, paper cutters, and stapling equipment.
  7. Package and label requested documents and materials for proper routing to destination.
  8. Price and outsource work that can not be efficiently completed in house.
  9. Maintain a clean and orderly work area for safety and to maximize productivity.
  10. Designate specific assignments to proper equipment to maximize productivity.
  11. Monitor use of production equipment to maximize productivity and minimize overage charges.
  12. Assist campuses to better utilize their graphics production equipment and minimize overage charges.
  13. Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned.
  14. Maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.
  15. Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
  16. Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business
  17. Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
  18. Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  19. Adheres to the district’s safety policies and procedures.
  20. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  21. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Digital print presses, digital and analog copiers, folders, collators, paper drills, stapling equipment, hydraulic and manual paper cutters, strapping machine, binders, scanners, computers, and printers.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Ability to lift 50 pounds.  Work around machinery with moving parts, blades, and drills.  Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures. 

 

Ability to proofread, understand and operate graphics software and other PC and iSeries based software.  Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.  Effective written and verbal communication.
