869 CARPENTER


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Three (3)  years successful experience in carpentry work

  3. Must maintain current Texas Driver License; maintain appropriate           

  4. driving record for insurance purposes

  5. Ability to read and work from scaled drawings

  6. Demonstrates ability to work and get along with people

  7. Demonstrates aptitude for successfully performing tasks assigned

  8. Willingness to work occasional overtime

REPORTS TO:        COORDINATOR OF MAINTENANCE AND/OR CARPENTER FOREMAN

JOB GOALS:

To help provide a better physical learning environment that is safe and efficient for all students and personnel in the district


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 6; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours dailyWage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Lays  out the day’s work orders in such a manner as to save time and travel; makes good use of time

2.       

Anticipates supplies and materials needed to perform tasks and thus be productive.

3.       

Keeps truck and tools in a clean and organized condition.

4.       

Cleans up work area after task is completed.

5.       

Keeps accurate records as to daily activities

6.       

Communicates with his foreman and/or supervisor as to solutions to problems as they arise.

7.       

Communicates with school personnel as to repairs at their school and keeps them informed as to the status.

8.       

Strives to improve in quality of performance.

9.       

Demonstrates self-respect and respects the rights of others; conducts himself favorable at all times.

10.    

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

11.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

12.    

Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.

13.    

Complies with directions and instructions from foreman and/or the Coordinator of Maintenance  and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

14.    

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing daily assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

15.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

16.    

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

17.    

Maintains confidentiality in the district business.

18.    

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Ability to use all manual and powered carpenter tools.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to understand basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying.  Ability to lift 50 pounds weight.  Works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.  Physical ability to wear respirator.
