867A CUSTODIAL SOLUTION FOREMAN


QUALIFICATIONS:

1.                  High School diploma or GED and a valid Texas driver’s license.

2.                  Five (5) years experience in Custodial/Supervisory capacity.

3.                  Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods.

4.                  Ability to assign work, inspect work completed and write reports

        5.             Knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and materials used in cleaning processes.

      6.             Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building maintenance.

        7.             Ability to manage personnel.

        8.             Effective planning and organizational skills.

        9.             Desire and ability to work with and effectively communicate with staff, students and parents.

      10.             Willingness to work occasional overtime.

 

REPORTS TO:        DISTRICT CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Pay grade: 5; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.         

Supervise subordinates in keeping buildings and premises neat and clean; including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas.

2.        

Assign duties to subordinates and inspect completed work.

3.         

Report major repairs needed or damage to building promptly to the principal/designee or district custodial supervisor.

4.         

Report any neglect/misconduct of any custodian to principal/designee or district custodial supervisor.

5.        

Assist and instruct subordinates in following the daily work schedule carefully.

6.         

Communicate with principal/designee or district custodial supervisor; about problems as they develop.

7.      

Train subordinates to perform custodial duties per Tyler I.S.D. Standards and expectations.

8.      

Inspect areas of each subordinate to insure cleaning is done properly.

9.      

Instruct subordinates on proper use of cleaning products to comply with safety standards.

10.     

Inspect and insure that store rooms and closets are orderly and neat.

11.      

Instructs subordinates on proper use of equipment, such as buffers, wet vacs, etc., to comply with safety standards.

12.      

Inspects equipment to insure it is clean and operational.  Reports needed equipment repairs to district custodial supervisor.

13      

Prepare cleaning schedule for subordinates, with principal/designee and district custodial supervisor’s approval.

14.      

Comply with directions and instructions from principal/designee or district custodial supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

16.      

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

17.      

Meet attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

Provide complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

19.      

Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

20.      

Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

21.

Work cooperatively with principals/designee and facilities managers to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.

22.

Recommend campus assignment changes and arrange for substitute subordinates as needed.

23.

Direct and assist in setting up facilities for special events.

24.

Schedule and supervise summer custodial projects, including cleaning and refinishing floors.

25.

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including, lifting, climbing, etc.

26.

Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report immediately any conditions that are not correctable to district custodial supervisor.

27.

Ensure all containers of hazardous chemicals are labeled with specific information.

28.

Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.

29.

Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional activities.

30.

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

31.

Use information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

32.

Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.

33.

Perform additional tasks and assume responsibilities as required by the position and as assigned.

 

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:
Ability to operate regular and high speed buffers, wet vac, vacuum cleaners  and carpet extractors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. 

Physical Demand/Environmental Factors: Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying.  Ability to lift 50 pounds weight.  Works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
