865 IRRIGATION INSTALLER


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. Valid Texas driver’s license

  3. Texas irrigation license within 7 years

  4. Knowledge of irrigation systems repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques

  5. Knowledge of plumbing and irrigation codes

  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material

  7. Ability to perform mathematical calculations

  8. Ability to use hand and power tools

  9. Must be willing to work occasional overtime

REPORTS TO:        COORDINATOR OF MAINTENANCE/LICENSED IRRIGATOR

JOB GOALS:

Assist Licensed Irrigator in design, purchase of materials, and installation of irrigation systems.  Assist also in maintaining all new and existing irrigation systems by repairing pipes, fittings, and irrigation fixtures district wide.  Provide for the safe condition and operation of all irrigation systems on district campuses.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 3; Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.        

Assist in assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of irrigation systems.

Determine sources of irrigation systems malfunctions and complete reparis as indicated or according to work orders.

3.        

Assist in installing and repairing pipes, fittings, valves, and irrigation system equipment.

4.        

Receive and complete work orders.

5.        

Assist in selecting material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.

6.        

Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.

7.        

Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.

8.        

Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.

9.        

Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.

10.    

Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.

11.    

Respond to emergency calls as needed.

12.    

Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

13.    

Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

14.    

Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.

15.    

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.

Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor; performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned

EQUIPMENT USED:
Hand and power tools; pipe bender; propane torch; heavy equipment, including trencher and backhoe.  Light truck or van.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions around fumes and toxic chemicals, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent districtwide travel.
