QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED

  2. Demonstrates interest in an aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Ability to grow professionally

  4. Keyboarding and computer proficiency

  5. Desire and ability to work with and communicate effectively with             

  6. students and parents

  7. Current Commercial Driver’s License and bus driver certification

REPORTS TO:        ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION

JOB GOALS:

  1. Maintain special education bus routes and descriptions.

  2. Maintains records on special education riders.

  3. Assist director and coordinators in accomplishing department goals.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades  Paygrade: 4;Estimated  228  days;   estimated 8 hours  daily


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. 

Keeps coordinator informed of route changes and adjustments.

2. 

Prepares and accurately maintains route pin maps and revises routes, as required.

3. 

Maintains rider records and assigns them to the appropriate route descriptions and rider information.

4. 

Acts as radio dispatcher for assigned routes.

5. 

Keeps backup drives informed of route changes and adjustments.

6. 

Monitors seating and wheelchair handicaps, special seating requirements, and alternate pickup/delivery requirements.

7. 

Provides training in special equipment procedures for reassigned personnel.

8. 

Assists drivers and monitors in rider management and misconduct reporting.

9. 

Assists other office personnel in routine office tasks.

10.    

Accurately responds to inquiries on routes, limits, assignments, and attendance boundaries.

11.     

Answers telephone promptly with a friendly, helpful attitude.

12.    

Assist coordinator in assessing and qualifying replacement bus drivers.

13.     

Conducts and scores replacement driver behind-the-wheel test drives.

14.    

Maintains personal qualifications for driving and monitoring school buses.

15.     

Substitutes as a bus driver/monitor whenever and wherever required.

16.    

Drivers safely and observes all traffic laws and driving regulations.

17.     

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

18.     

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

19.     

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

20.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

21.     

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

22.     

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

23.     

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, and standing.  works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; slippery and uneven walking surfaces and in district travel.  Continued sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.  Ability to operate motor vehicle.  Exposure to vehicle fumes.
