QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a High School diploma or GED

  2. Demonstrates interest in an aptitude for work to be performed

  3. Ability to grow professionally

  4. Keyboarding and computer proficiency; computation skills

  5. Desire and ability to work with and communicate effectively with             

  6. students and parents

  7. Current Commercial Driver’s License and bus driver certification

  8. Negative mandatory OTETA alcohol and drug test

REPORTS TO:        ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION

JOB GOALS:

  1. Maintain all extra programs (kindergarten, bilingual, and target, etc.).

  2. Monitor and maintain fueling records and access card assignments.

  3. Maintain all extracurricular athletic trips and records.

  4. Assist director and coordinators in accomplishing department goals.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades  Paygrade: 4; Estimated  228  days;   estimated 8 hours  daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.         

Monitor bulk tank levels and initiates purchase order requests necessary to maintain adequate fuel supplies.

2.         

Maintains and monitors records for environmental agencies.

3.         

Receives, monitors, and signs for bulk tank deliveries.

4.         

Maintains manual and computer fuel distribution records.

5.         

Maintains and monitors miles per gallon records.

6.         

Attends weekly trip meetings.

7.         

Enters, schedules, assigns, and supervises athletic trips according to local policies.

8.         

Accurately responds to inquiries on routes, limits, assignments, and attendance boundaries.

9.         

Answers telephone promptly with a friendly, helpful attitude.

10.      

Prepares, distributes, and collects time cards.

11.      

Assists secretary in processing athletic invoices.

12.      

Keeps director  informed of route changes and adjustments.

13.      

Prepares and accurately maintains route maps and revises routes as required.

14.      

Maintains rider records and assigns them to the appropriate routes.

15.      

Provides drivers with up-to-date route descriptions and rider information.

16.      

Maintains and assigns bus driver handbooks and training manuals.

17.      

Assist director in assessing and qualifying replacement bus drivers.

18.      

Conducts and scores replacement driver behind-the-wheel test drives.

19.      

Maintains personal qualifications for driving and/or monitoring school buses.

20.      

Substitutes as a bus driver wherever and whenever required.

21.      

Assists with training new employees as needed.

22.      

Drives safely and observes all traffic laws and driving regulations.

23.      

Complies with directions and instructions from Supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

24.      

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

25.      

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

26.      

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

27.      

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

        28.

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

        29.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Two-way radio, typewriter, computer, bus and special bus equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, and standing.  works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; slippery and uneven walking surfaces and in district travel.  Continued sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.  Ability to operate motor vehicle.  Exposure to vehicle fumes.
