833 DELIVERY PERSON/MAIL CLERK


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a High School diploma or GED.

  2. Must hold a current Class B Commercial Drivers License or Texas driver license.

REPORTS TO:        ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

JOB GOALS:

  1. Receives and accurately marks packages, mail, supplies, and media.

  2. Maintains delivery truck’s daily maintenance and reports any other maintenance needed for the truck.

  3. Safely delivers all packages, mail, supplies, media to designated locations in a timely fashion.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades  Paygrade: 2; Estimated  228  days;   estimated 8 hours  daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.       

Receives and verifies all incoming campus and district mail, packages, and media items.

2.       

Sorts all incoming mail, packages, and media documents; distributes them to the appropriate boxes.

3.       

Loads the delivery truck each morning.

4.       

Safely delivers all mail, packages, and media items to designated campus locations in a timely fashion.

5.       

Check delivery truck for daily maintenance needs; keeps assigned vehicle clean.

6.       

Operates the delivery vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.

7.       

Carefully adheres to assigned schedule.

8.       

Assists in performing necessary processing of school textbook orders.

9.       

Receives textbook order shipment.

10.    

Checks in textbook titles against shipping tickets and invoices.

11.    

 Processes, prepares and ships textbook orders to each campus.

12.    

Performs annual inventories of textbooks at each campus by grade level and title.

13.    

Promptly responds to needs related to job responsibilities.

14.    

Effectively communicates with colleagues.

15.    

Employs effective interpersonal skills.

16.    

Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

17.    

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.

18.    

Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

19.    

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

20.    

Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.

21.    

Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

           22.

Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Operates motor vehicle, and electronic multi-media equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental demands:  Reading; ability;  ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); mechanical/technical aptitude. 

Physical Demand/Environmental Factors: 

Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying.  Ability to operate motor vehicle.  Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; exposure to chemical fumes; exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces; exposure to hot and cold temperatures.  Daily districtwide travel.
